Matthieu Barthlen, former Sales Engineer, Jetcraft
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
How long have you been at Jetcraft?
I started working for Jetcraft in October 2017, so it has been a little over a year.
What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team?
I provide technical and sales support to Philipp Wieser in Central Europe, Guillaume Chamoin in Southern Europe/Northern Africa, Danie Joubert in Africa, and any other Sales Director in EMEA as needed. I assist with aircraft valuation analysis, building and updating specifications, coordinating marketing, aircraft viewing or inspections, etc.
Describe a typical day or week in your role.
I usually start by reviewing my emails in order to prioritize the tasks for the day. The support tasks I provide to the EMEA team varies a lot and it can involve being at my desk to gather needed information or travel for a records review or aircraft viewing.
What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy dealing with a large diversity of business aircraft models and contributing to the global success of Jetcraft.
Describe the company culture at Jetcraft and what it means to you?
Jetcraft is made of professional, highly skilled, successful and humble employees. It is very exciting being a part of it and I look forward to working more with the whole family.
What do you want your customers to experience when dealing with Jetcraft?
I want our Customers to have the highest satisfaction by exceeding their expectations and reaching their goals in a smooth and timely manner.
Who or what has been your greatest professional influence?
My father gave me the Aviation bug; he became a Helicopter pilot in the French Army Light Aviation (ALAT) the year I was born (1979). Later while completing my MSc. in Aeronautical Maintenance at IMA Bordeaux, France, my passion in Aviation rose to another level as I experienced the Business Aviation world by joining Jet Aviation (Basel) for two internships. Eventually I worked as a MX Planning Engineer within the Dassault Team in Basel 2004-2007 and thereafter in Geneva 2007-2009. This gave me the chance to gain experience with most – if not all – Jet Aviation Departments and Specialists, as well as interacting with International Pilots and Customers.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Motivated. Solution-oriented. Responsive.
If you were to buy a business jet, which aircraft would suit your needs and why?
I would probably go for a large cabin, long range model with style such as a Falcon 7X, Global or G650.
What stands out to you as good customer service?
Customer- and solution- oriented. Providing accurate information to the clients in a timely manner.
Finally, what is your hidden talent or hobby?
I have run more than a dozen half marathons and two full marathons since 2012. I find running is a nice way to discover places from another perspective. (Pictured: Mountain Man Half Marathon)
