Cessna Citation CJ1 Overview (2000-2005)

The Cessna Citation CJ1 was the second aircraft in the CitationJet/CJ series which replaced the original model CitationJet (CJ). The Citation CJ1 improved upon the original CitationJet with an updated EFIS avionics suite and an increased maximum takeoff weight. The CJ1 can be single-pilot operated.

As of March 2014, the Citation CJ1 market is comprised of 79% pre-owned. The percentage for sale is 12.2% with 67% of that under an exclusive broker agreement and average days on the market are 496 days.

Brief History

The Citation CJ1 began production in 2000 and ended manufacture in 2005. During that time, a total of 198 aircraft have been produced with all but one currently in operation.

Worldwide Appeal

There are currently 197 Citation CJ1 jets in operation with 186 wholly owned and 11 in shared ownership. Of the 186 wholly owned Citation CJ1 aircraft in operation by continent, North America has the largest percentage at 60%, followed by Europe at 20% and South America at 13% for a combined total of 93%. Also, 6% of the 197 Citation CJ1 jets in operation today are in fleet ownership with the largest fleet operator (CAAC Flying College of China) having 6 aircraft. Additionally, 7% of the Citation CJ1 jets are leased.
