William Borgsmiller, President/CEO, ACI Jet
How long have you been at your current organization?
I founded the company in 1998 so ACI Jet has been around for 19 years and I was there at the start.
What are your responsibilities within your organization?
I am the President and CEO. My main focus is to ensure that we are providing integrity, professionalism, and top notch customer service and overall excellence in all phases of operations.
Describe a typical day or week in your role.
I spend most of my week at our headquarters in San Luis Obispo working with the leaders of each of ACI’s Business Units (Flight Operations, Maintenance, and FBOs). I also spend 1-2 days each week at our new FBO Facility in Orange County at John Wayne Airport.
What do you love most about your job?
I always enjoy the planes, but I also love that the people I work with are just as excited about aviation as I am.
Why did working in the Business Aviation industry interest you, and how did you get started?
I always thought that being able to share airplanes with people in a more personal manner (as we can do in business aviation) was much more appealing than working in the airline world. As far as getting started goes, I literally got a few friends and family members to invest enough money for the down payment to buy a Piper Seneca III. After that, I applied for a 135 certificate with the FAA and over time got into more complex aircraft. Turbo-props were first with jets following shortly behind and eventually we expanded into the FBO and Part 145 Repair Station business.
Who or what has been your greatest professional influence?
My business partners over the years. Each of the four people I have partnered with throughout ACI’s life have brought enormous perspective and expertise to the table. I’ve been fortunate enough to combine my enthusiasm for aviation with their general business expertise to create something unique and amazing.

What one item would you never travel without on a long haul flight?
Pajama pants.
Finally, what is your hidden talent or hobby?
My hobby is definitely ACI Jet, aviation is a passion of mine and I enjoy working in that world every day.
