Product Overview
The Dash 8-400 is a high-capacity turboprop regional aircraft developed by De Havilland Canada, designed to excel in both passenger transport and special mission roles.
Featuring a modern cockpit and enhanced aerodynamic design, the Dash 8-400 delivers increased performance and efficiency over conventional turboprops. Its spacious cabin is configured to seat up to 90 passengers, with options for single or dual-class layouts, offering advanced cabin enhancements such as Active Noise and Vibration Suppression (ANVS) and HEPA filtration to improve passenger experience and in-flight air quality.
Raphael, President of Jetcraft Commercial, highlights the cabin comfort and quiet: “It’s a recent aircraft, it’s modern, it’s comfortable…most of the time you don’t feel like you are in a turboprop.”
Versatile and mission-ready
Built for versatility, the Dash 8-400’s rugged construction and powerful engines enable operation on unpaved runways and in remote areas, handling a range of mission types, from passenger flights and cargo transport to specialized roles such as firefighting and medical evacuation. The aircraft’s design includes extended overhead bins, in-seat USB power, and wireless in-flight entertainment options, creating a comfortable environment adaptable to both commercial and executive configurations.
With recent acquisitions including 19 Dash 8-400s, Jetcraft has positioned itself as an expert in regional turboprops. Haddad says, “This is an aircraft with which we are very comfortable. We know all the ins and outs. We know how to support it, we know how to buy it, we know how to sell it. Customers are coming to us because they know we have certain expertise in that aircraft type and in regional aviation.”
With its combination of high productivity, low operating costs, and robust systems engineered for long service intervals, the Dash 8-400 is an efficient and reliable solution for regional and remote operations, trusted by more than 75 operators worldwide.
Brief History
Launched following the success of the Dash 8-100, -200, and -300 series, the Dash 8-400 debuted with improved engines, a modernized cockpit, and enhanced aerodynamics. Since its entry into service, the Dash 8-400 has maintained its market position through continuous improvements to meet evolving demands, particularly in operational and passenger comfort features.
Highlights
Interior
The Dash 8-400 offers a flexible seating configuration, from single-class 90 seats to dual-class options. Updated interior features include LED lighting, extended overhead bins for increased carry-on space, and options for in-seat USB power and wireless in-flight entertainment. Enhanced cabin layouts allow for reconfiguration to suit mission-specific needs, such as increased passenger capacity or executive seating options.
Performance
The Dash 8-400 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engines, each providing up to 5,071 shaft horsepower. These engines drive constant-speed, fully feathering, reversible propellers, delivering efficient thrust for quick take offs and landings, even on unpaved runways and in remote regions. Known for high reliability, the PW150A engines provide ample power for operations in hot and high-altitude environments, maximizing operational flexibility. With the ability to use biofuels, the PW150A engines also align with sustainable aviation goals, making the Dash 8-400 a more carbon efficient and versatile choice.
