Describe a typical day or week in your role.

No day is the same but my responsibilities include bringing in new leads and nurturing existing leads for opportunities to bring in new deals.

Tell us what you enjoy most about your role.

What I love most about my role is being emersed in the world of aircraft. I’ve always been very passionate about flying and aviation throughout my career, so just being around the aircraft on a daily basis, talking about the aircraft, marketing the aircraft and selling the aircraft.  I also love meeting new people, networking and discussing new opportunities with them.

Describe what you are most proud of in your professional journey.

I think so far, I am most proud of my development and where I have come at this stage. From getting my PPL at age 21, to having done marketing for Jetcraft and now in sales for Jetcraft. Transitioning through different areas around aviation but learning as I go.

Product Overview

The Learjet 40XR is an upgraded version of the Learjet 40 with improvements in hot-and-high performance, climb rates and faster long range cruise speeds resulting in a range of more than 240 nm. The increases are due to the upgraded Honeywell “BR” engines from the “AR” used on the Learjet 40.

As of May 2024, 62% of Learjet 40XR aircraft ownership comes from the pre-owned market, the other 38% new. 7.37% are currently for sale, with the majority (85.7%) under an exclusive broker agreement. For those on the market, the average sale time is 144 days.

Brief History

Derived from the Lear 45, the Learjet 40 and 40XR are 24.5 inches shorter and have a maximum take-off weight that is 150 lbs. lighter. These two characteristics increase performance and lower operational costs. The Lear 40 aircraft received FAA certification in July 2003, as an amendment to the Type Certification of the Lear 45 and ended production in 2009. The Learjet 40XR went into operation in 2005 and ended production in 2012.

When boarding a domestic flight in the United States, it’s easy to see that air travel in the country is thriving – global air travel. Airlines in the US and Canada were the first in the world to return to post-pandemic profitability in 2022 and have done a phenomenal job of matching capacity to demand. Looking ahead, the forecast is bright as carriers in the region are expected to post a net profit of $14.4 billion in 2024 (IATA).

While debates range on whether so-called ‘revenge travel’ is over, for IATA, North America remains “the standout region in terms of financial performance.” Its latest forecast states demand in Revenue per Passenger Kilometer (RPK) was 16% higher in 2023 compared to 2022, with a 6.3% year-on-year rise in March 2024.

Amid such a thriving environment, the region is poised to not only profit from revived travel demand but to also serve as a source of aircraft for other regional airlines.

During the height of the pandemic, inventory levels for business aircraft dropped to a record low of 3%. Buyers were less demanding, it was easy to find a buyer close to home, and many aircraft were sold before they hit the market.

With demand at an all-time high, selling a listing was more straightforward, especially as many sellers delayed large maintenance projects and internal refurbishments to capitalize on a dynamic market.

Now the market is returning to normal, it’s important that sellers understand the benefits of properly readying their aircraft for sale to maximize its value.

Previously, buyers were willing to invest in the business jet they wanted, even if it was due for maintenance or refurbishment. Today’s buyers expect aircraft to be well maintained and in the early part of their maintenance. Sellers should stay ahead of maintenance requirements to ensure their aircraft’s readiness for a buyer or be prepared to lower their price.

A typical day for me starts with calling clients in the morning, following up with new leads and then following up with deals that are currently in the pipeline. I often then have meetings in the afternoon with new clients, for example.

Tell us what you enjoy most about your role.

What I enjoy most about my role is the connection I have with my clients. I have a really good relationship with my clients, so I enjoy helping them get exactly what they are looking for.

Describe what you are most proud of in your professional journey.

What brings me the most pride is definitely just getting the job done. In this business it is very difficult to sell an aircraft, so being able to get the job done is definitely my biggest reward.

Jetcraft’s 10^th edition predicts 10,307 transactions totaling $70.7B in revenue

Business aircraft are spending less time for sale than ever before, according to the latest edition of the Pre-Owned Business Jet Market Forecast by Jetcraft.

The report shows that in 2022-2023, aircraft spent an average of 129 days on the market compared to 233 days in 2018-2019, driven by unprecedented post-pandemic demand. Furthermore, the data affirms that the industry is in a much-needed market correction period, with a dip in both volume and value in 2023. However, ongoing transaction volumes are similar to 2019 levels, while values remain higher than the pre-pandemic peak, with an expected 59% increase in total transaction value between 2019 and 2028.

Chad Anderson, Chief Executive Officer, Jetcraft says: “For the first time, we’re including an analysis of market dynamics in the Pre-Owned Business Jet Market Forecast. As our data shows, since 2022 the number of days an aircraft spends on the market has decreased by almost half – due to borders opening and international travel resuming, along with buyers making faster, more emotional purchase decisions due to increased demand. We expect transaction rates will settle at this new level, even with more inventory available, culminating in a total forecast revenue of $15.6B annually by 2028.”

Product Overview

The Cessna Citation Sovereign+ is the successor to the Citation Sovereign model. The Sovereign+ features upgraded engines, which provide a longer range, and winglets as a standard offering versus an option on the original Sovereign. The Sovereign+ also has improved take-off and landing capability and the addition of the Garmin G5000 avionics. The range is the strongest feature of both the Sovereign and Sovereign+ with Coast-to-Coast capabilities and the ability to take-off and land at short distances thanks to a moderately swept high-aspect ratio wing.

As of May 2024, 24% of the Citation Sovereign+ ownership comes from the pre-owned market, the other 76% from new. 6% aircraft are currently for sale with only 2% under an exclusive broker agreement. For those on the market, the average sale time is 30 days.

Brief History

The production of the Citation Sovereign ended in 2013 and was replaced by the improved Sovereign+. The Sovereign+ was initially announced at the October 2012 NBAA, it first flew in April 2013 and was certified in December 2013. A total of 100 Sovereign+ business jets have been built in the year range 2013 – 2021.

The Falcon 7X is a fly-by-wire ultra-long range business jet which flies 5,466 nm further and faster than any of its Falcon predecessors. It features an innovative wing design including winglets, which makes the longer range possible.

As of April 2024, 54% of Falcon 7X ownership comes from the preowned market, the other 46% from new. 5% of those are for sale with the majority of those under an exclusive brokerage agreement. For those on the market, the average sale time is 150 days.

Brief History

The Dassault Falcon 7X was first presented to the public at the 2001 Paris Air Show and first flew in May 2005. The type certificate was received in April 2007 from the FAA and EASA and it entered service in June. Dassault Aviation continued to refine and improve the Falcon 7X over the years. In 2016, a newer version called the Falcon 7X Enhanced was introduced, featuring upgraded engines and other improvements.
