Aviation-related phone and tablet applications are proliferating into all sectors of our industry - with a significant growth in those used by pilots being the focus of this review. It would take a complete manual with regular updates to provide a fair summary and assessment of applications available for pilots. Some Apps are available without being tied to a specific aircraft model or equipment type. Others are locked-in, meaning the application supplements - or is tied to - a certain aircraft model or equipage.

A locked-in example would be Bombardier’s Flight Deck that offers pilots paperless documentation storing and access to serial number-specific Bombardier aircraft data. An unlocked example would be AirNav FBO covering the United States and Territories FBO locations with pertinent details and fuel costs.

The Global Express was the first of 4 business jet aircraft models built by Bombardier to compete in the new ultra-long range large-cabin market. The Global Express filled the top-end of the Bombardier product line.

The Global Express shares the Canadair Regional Jets fuselage cross section. The Global Express features an advanced all new supercritical wing with a 35 degree sweep and winglets plus a new tail.

As of July 2013, the Global Express market is comprised of 100% pre-owned. The percentage for sale is 16.9% with 76% under an exclusive broker agreement and average days on the market are 350 days.

Brief History

The Bombardier Global Express (BD-700) was first announced in October 1991 at the NBAA Annual Event. The Global Express is one of a new class of ultra long range large-cabin business jets, and competes against the Gulfstream GV, Boeing BBJ, and Airbus A319CJ.

EBACE Day 3 Summary - May 22

The last day of any show is always a mixed bag: Full of last-minute meetings and interviews, then it’s time to wrap things up, breakdown the displays and say our goodbyes. It’s safe to say the final day of EBACE 2014 was a hectic one for everyone here at Jetcraft.

The rain clouds rolled in this afternoon, but we can’t complain as we’ve had amazing weather all week here in Geneva. The warm sun and mild temperatures have positively impacted the visitor numbers overall this year.

It has been another great day at the show and our team has been kept very busy. It is clear to see that visitor numbers are high today both out on the static with the aircraft and throughout the exhibition halls.

Today we have had a lot of media attention and it has been great to be able to share our experience and expertise with the market. Positive Vibes

Day one of EBACE 2014 is in the books and it’s been a positive and productive start to the show. That's not just our opinion either, as we’ve been speaking with media members and others in the industry who also believe things are looking up. You can sense a vibe in the air that is strikingly upbeat!

Our European team is excited to be on their home turf, along with our executive team of Chad, Jahid and Peter. How long have you been at Jetcraft?

I’ve been with Jetcraft for just over six years, starting off at our Raleigh headquarters in the US. I moved over to Switzerland around two years ago to join Jetcraft’s European office here in Zurich. Before working for Jetcraft I was the sales manager for refurbishments and maintenance at Gulfstream.

What are your responsibilities within the global Jetcraft team?

At its core, Jetcraft is a relationship-focused company. You won’t sell a single airplane if you don’t value relationships.
